Date: Sun, 23 Feb 1997 23:43:46 -0500 (EST) From: Gerald Levy <glevy-AT-pratt.edu> Subject: M-I: Schindler's list Earlier today we received anti-Semetic hate mail. Tonight, "Schindler's List" was aired on NBC. 3 1/2 hours without commercial interruption. Presented by -- Ford Motor Company. Ford Motor Company -- you know, that's the auto company founded by Henry Ford. Henry Ford -- vicious anti-Semite and admirer of Hitler. Stephen Spielberg, who introduced the film, went out of his way to thank Ford Motor Company for sponsoring the film. Yet, Mr. Spielberg said that the purpose of the film was that the world would never forget. It seems that the mega-dollars from Ford have made him forget already. Now to other seemy subjects: > From: Louis N Proyect <lnp3-AT-columbia.edu> > Karl Carlisle, on the other hand, calls him Gery. Go figure > that one out. Two raving maniacs who deserve each other.) Hmmm. Didn't someone say there was a list policy against making comments like that? (I expect you'll receive another warning from the moderators). > (Why would anybody want to be a lawyer, I wonder? My friend's sister only > wants to date lawyers but me and her find them to be an odious crew all in > all. You know who appears to be a really big creep, by the way? The late > William Kunstler's partner, an attorney by the name of Ron Kuby who wears > a stupid pony-tail. Kunstler's widow is suing to keep Kuby from using > Kunstler's name in his practice. I hope she wins.) Ron Kuby is not a creep. He is an excellent radical attorney who has devoted years worth of effort for radical causes without compensation. He even defended me on two occasions in recent years -- without charge. He has been a mainstay in the legal support team for the homeless, squatters, and political activists in the Lower East Side. He's one of the most selfless and principled people I know. I do wish you wouldn't libel people you know nothing about. It's true that he has a ponytail. What a crime! Not everybody has to wear hush puppies, dress shirts, and expensive watches like you. Bill Kuntsler and Ron were the best of friends. Shortly after Bill's death, she sent him (Bill's partner) packing from their W. Village office. Too bad she didn't think of Bill's memory and legacy when she evicted Ron. Sad, very sad. But, I don't think she ever really shared Bill's and Ron's commitment to social justice. Jerry --- from list marxism-international-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu ---
