Uh, actually no.  While Oleachea has certainly not stinted in sharing
information and perspective on the People's War in Peru, a service
that has been at least in some respects very valuable to many list
members, let's not overstate the case.

Adolpho is annointed by no-one, and appointed by no-one -- except
pehaps Mr. Arce Borja who, though he takes a bit more coy tack these
days, would have been the first to tell you in years past that he is
*not* a representative of or spokesperson for the PCP.  His perspective,
shared by Mr. Oleachea, is his own.

As to the suspensions: As a survivor of the original M1-M2 split ("and
all I got was this stinkin' T-shirt"), my own feeling is that the moderators
are doing exactly what we asked them to do, and we should give them
the benefit of the doubt.  The exchange between the detestable Levy on
the one hand and the rather over-excitable Oleachea and Miles on the
other had degenerated far past the point of any useful political exchange
in the context of this list.  Now if I had my druthers, Levy would simply
be expelled.  His sole, more-or-less openly stated purpose has from the
beginning been the destruction of this list.  However, mine are not the
operative druthers in this instance.  The three moderators have, I think,
done a pretty good job so far, and we don't help them bear their if not
onerous at least often irritating task by second-guessing them.  As long
as Adolpho and Miles can resist the urge to hold their breath until they
get their way, they can probably manage two weeks of devoting them-
selves to tasks other than posting to the list.  And who knows, perhaps
my dream of a Levy-free list will come true sometime soon.  In the
meantime, lets give Lou, Jon, and Zeynep a break, shall we?
