I suppose this was done by sending massive Soviet aid and via the
thousands of communist volunteers from around the world who joined the
International Brigades for the express purpose of betraying the Spanish
Republic by dying in its defence.

Of course, it goes without saying, the treason of Franco, massive Nazi
and Italian military assitance to Franco, and the blockade of the
Republic by France and Britain had nothing whatsoever to do with
anything. Stalin, and Stalin alone, is responsible.
