Date: Fri, 23 May 1997 01:12:49 -0400 From: malecki-AT-algonet.se (Robert Malecki) Subject: M-I: Another "Zaire" Times article from Proyect! In yet another New York Times article on Zaire from Proyect ,which certainly proves what Hugh has been saying about the belated Neo Stalinist Menshevik jumping on the Black nationalist train in Zaire with the question "Where's Zaire?" in regards to Proyect, our hero is once again trying to dazzle people into believing how profound and complicated things are in this part of the world.. In fact the New York Times article expresses a genuinue suspicion of the various armed clicks of Nationalists involved in this conflict in regards to American Imperialist interests connected to the post Stalinist influence that existed in this part of the world. At best Proyects publishing of this article is and attempt at grasping a desperate straw which no longer exists. But it hardly changes the fundementals of what is going on and what needs to be done in this part of the world. In fact rather confirms what some of the "Trotskyists" have been saying all the time. The times article is a clever description of the various Nationalist fractions in a number of surrounding states that were recieving big military support from the former Soviet Union. These were the days when Kalashnikovs were a dime a dozen as military and political leaders of the former Soviet Union and Cuba were supporting all kinds of movements on the African continent. Most of the "leaders" are now calling themselves former "marxists" who either were in the pay and service of Moscow and in other cases like "Unita" backed by South Africa and other Imperialist countries. None of them either supported by Moscow and Cuba or the movements backed by South Africa or imperialism to counter the Stalinist movements were interested in building Bolshevik Leninist Parties based on mass struggle to create a new order in this part of the world. In fact exactly the opposite in the case of bodies of armed professional guerrilla armies with all kinds of "advisors" which recruited its human material out of the ever repeating castastophies in this part of the world. It appears as if the only thing there was a good amount of was guns and military advisors on all sides in order to militararilly carry on wars and set up all kinds of military dictatorships and one party states based not on popular revolution but small groups of armed man that won the next battle. However this stage of history is dead! So is Stalinism in the form of the once Soviet Union and this means a whole new ballgame. In fact Proyects articles from the Times connected to his Neo Stalinist theory is at best wishful thinking on this New York intellectual's inability to see this fundemental fact. He is trying to revive a dead and buried duck! Well he can give mouth to mouth resusitation on M-I and other lists all fucking day and even with the help of the New York Times who still has writers that covered Africa back in those days which reflect this trend will not help Proyect or the Neo Stalinists one bit. Stalinism and its stage theory of revolution is dead! and buried! Why none of these movements even pay lip service to this kind of shit any longer... In fact the jockying going on now is quite clearl a reflection of various nationalist trends with small armies in the area trying to consolidate its own trend and dominance in the area. But the common line is bougeois nationalism and all kinds of wheeling and dealing with the various imperialists who want a piece of the action. Wheter it be the Americans, the French, the Belgians or whatever. And this will mean endless rounds of new wars and manuvering unless a real Communist International develops to take up the struggle.. In fact what we are seeing it is sort of a bizaar deformed Stalinist stage theory which no longer uses any Marxist rhetoric what so ever and is marching backwards. What is shaping up here because of the lack of a Bolshevik Leninist party or parties in this part of the world is at best petty bougeois and bougeois nationalist leaderships who are doing a whole lot of jockying to be the new spokesman of colonial imperialist interests in Africa. Those at this point with the best advisors and most guns and determination seemingly be cheered on by the Neo Stalinists on this list. Proyect is probably already thinking about writting and article on Angola and the MPLA as it has a central place in the Times story. If he was even a smart neo Stalinist (which he isn,t) I suggest Marx and the 18th on the creation of bougeois states. But, Don't bother Proyect we all now you love for this fake organisation that was backed up by the Soviet Union and Cuba and who today in no way represents any kind of progress in this part of the world but only a hinder.. In fact what we are seeing is a consolidation of petty bougeois nationalists movements who are no longer a threat to there colonial masters. Naturally back then the MPLA was worth defending militarilly against attack by the rascist South Africa. But today this is hardly the case. In fact it might be that communists must defend poor and working class people from these organisations! Finally South Africa is the key. Unless South Africa and its mighty millions of black proletarians are drawn into the struggle in Southern Africa well then we are going to see round after round after round of these kinds of struggles from time to time as the contending imperialist countries try to find new "Bonapartes" who they can make a deal with. It is impossible on the African continent to rule at this point with a classical colonial occupation along the lines of Britain in India. Much better to make a deal with a section of the population and its leaders in order to hold things under control. The only way to break this dead end cycle is the development of a Pan/African Bolshevik/Leninist tendency in a future revolutionary International which sees as its task the liberation of the African masses from the imperialist/colonialists and there black political henchman. The human material already exists in the form of the South African Proletariat which in this part of the world is the vanguard of any long going revolutionary change worth mentioning. Although Nigeria and its Proletariat and the development of proletariats in other African countries is working in a favorable direction. VICTORY TO THE POPULAR AND DEMOCRATIC REVOLUTION IN ZAIRE!!
