I am planning to reply to other statements Chris made in his reply to me, but before doing so, I would like to hear more about the above, from Chris and also others who have something to say about the relevance of chaos theory and complexity theory to Marx's and Engels's methods. In fact, if we could pursue this as an independent subject, not embedded in the "state capitalism" debate, we might be able to move discussion from polemically charged arguments to clarification and advancement of theory. Yoshie p.s. I just finished Bhaskar's _Reclaiming Reality_ and am now reading _Plato Etc_. Has this list already discussed his work? (I remember Gary mentioning him once, but the topic didn't become a thread.) --- from list marxism-international-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu ---
