Dear Comrades

I will be in England for the Bhaskar "Realism and the Crisis in the Human
Sciences" conference, the University of Warwick, 29-30 August 1997. I will
be presenting a paper on Documentary film theory where I argue that a
Bhaskarian approach can solve many of the problems, especially the Truth
Question, that have dogged documentary film theory.

I will put part of the paper in the Marxism Archives soon.

I need however for the purposes of funding to draw up a program which
includes something other than the conference. Specifically I need to meet
with colleagues working in the field (broadly defined) and exchange ideas
or address a seminar or give a lecture etc. I could give my paper or
discuss some other topic in Cultural Studies (to be negotiated).

I would be grateful if anyone on the list would volunteer in one of these
capacities. I am especially looking for a reason to visit an Irish
institution!

I have put versions of this note on the Bhaskar and the Film-philosophy
lists. I hope comrades will forgive this crossposting (just this once!)

Eternal gratitude guaranteed if anyone comes forward.

regards

Gary
