I think Louis Proyect needs to understand the difference between
rational criticism and personal criticism. But I suspect it is too late
for that.

His latest tirade was started by my response to Andy's post on state
capitalism. Inevitably, this kind of subject will involve a lot of
conceptual clarification on both sides, and equally inevitably Louis
doesn't like this kind of thing. But, like Carroll Cox, if you find this
offensive you can always refuse to read it in the first place. That way
you can be content in your ignorance.

More importantly perhaps is the antiquated debating style of Louis.
Concern has often been expressed at the lack of female involvement in
Marxism in general and these lists in particular. Women have often
complained that they find Marxist debate off-putting when it descends to
the kind of abuse Louis is so good at. Unfortunately, this kind of macho
posturing all to easily passes for Marxist discussion. If we are to
break out of this limited testosterone heavy environment and reach out
to the wider working class, then it is up to Marxists now to say that
such behaviour is unacceptable. Well, is it?
