When I was in California last month, I talked with the son of a Mossad
officer who told me some of the things his father tells him. First is that
Netanyahu desperately wants to be a war hero. And two, that since everyone
knows that Iran finances Hamas, and since everyone also knows that Iran has
nuclear weapons, the only logical thing for Israel to do would be to launch
a massive nuclear strike on Iran. Supposedly this is the fondest wish of a
wing of the Israeli security establishment, which has specially modified
F-15s for the task. Israel - whose military strategy comes mainly from Nazi
military strategy, according to my friend - is convinced it could render
Iran incapable of launching a counterattck.

Obviously I have no way to check this, but there you go.
