This reminds me. Yesterday I had a project meeting with my users from
Columbia's facilities management department. Discussion came up between
them and my boss about a looming United Auto Workers strike at Columbia.
The UAW is the main bargaining agent of clerical workers at Columbia--talk
about the changing face of labor.

My boss said that there is a distinct possibility of a strike because of
the "UPS thing." I perked up. "What UPS thing", I asked. He said that the
unions on campus are feeling their oats because of the Teamster victory.
They have confidence that they can win a strike. He also referred to Local
1199 rallies downtown. 1199 represents workers at Columbia Presbyterian
Hospital. He says that they are getting their members ready for a possible
strike four months in advance of negotiations.

Something is going on here.
