Note the year, meaning that the article was written in 1989 and thus is anticipatory of the future. Another Trotskyist source is the book by Walter Daum, "The Life and Death of Stalinism: A Resurrection of Marxist", 1990. Again note the year. Daum is critical of Tony Cliff, as least to some extent.
