I have not found a lot of energy for the list lately, partly due to the summer hiatus, and more importantly find myself burned out dealing with the periodic irruptions like the "crisis" of the LeninList now boiling over onto this list. It is time for some fresh energy. Discussions are going on with prospective replacements. I am not clear on what Zeynep's status will be in the future, she is traveling at the moment. I have enjoyed working with Zeynep and Lou G, despite our political disagreements. They both showed me that they were capable of rising above their particular politics when it really counted. It wasn't all fun by any means, but I have learned a lot from this list, and plan to stay in touch, though I might take a break for a while this fall. If moderators can be found to take up the slack, its my view that the basic format of this list is sound. We have fresh evidence of the problem of straying too far from a carefully defined "free speech" format. An open list must tolerate a certain amount of annoying spam and off the wall nonsense, but better that than holy wars for a "line." My best to you all, Jon Flanders outgoing co-moderator Jon Flanders --- from list marxism-international-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu ---
