Jim, we've been through this already, but here goes: I forward, in the interest of facilitating discussion on important topics like Cuba, a number of posts which for one reason or another "bounce" to the moderators. In additon, I go out of my way to solicit posts from non-members like Dick Lewontin and Stephen Jay Gould who would otherwise not post to m-i or any other list. Adolfo represents an important line within Marxism, and one which (in the face of the inexorable decline of social-democracy) seems destined to prosper. The fact that he is also singularly articulate (in a style very reminescent of Lenin's) is an added plus to m-i. >BTW the other day in a post on this very same issue Lou Godena remarked >that he felt justified in forwarding posts from Adolfo since it was his >practice >to forward posts from unsubscribed persons even when they included >political and personal attacks on himself. If you continually brought Andy Austin to the list, his posts would be welcome, as long as they contained something of value besides personal attacks on me (I am not saying that personal attacks on me are not valuable, just that the constant re-running of them can be a distraction to others). On the other hand, I suspect the labile nature of Andy Austin would re-assert itself, and he would grow bored interacting in this fashion. Ths has *not* been the case with Adolfo; I find his posts fresh, provocative, and invigorating. And the fact that his (unsubscribed) essays have provoked so much discussion is suggestive of the possibilities of marxism-international. Thanks for the moderate tone of your post, which *is* refreshing. Louis Godena, co-moderator --- from list marxism-international-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu ---
