Actually, it's the Bureau of Economic Analysis that computes the national
income and product accounts. The Bureau of Labor Statistics, as its name
implies, handles employment, earnings, price indexes, consumer
expenditures, productivity, and the like. We vulgarians like to keep these
things straight, because, as A.R. Ammons wrote, Matthew Arnold might pop
out of the bushes reminding us to preserve the essential distinctions....
