Two new moderators came on board, replacing Zeynep Tufekcioglu and Jon Flanders. I suppose most of you are now acquainted with Gay Harley and Dennis Grammenos, who joined the moderators' panel late last month. I have found both of them to be articulate and conscientious comrades who truly have the best interests of our little forum at heart. Also, recent actions were taken to put an end to a growing tendency on the part of some members to flame their nemeses on the list. This has resulted in the disciplinary suspensions of Hugh Rodwell, David Bedggood, and Stuart Shield, all of whom have now been restored. Gerald Levy and Robert Malecki have been expelled for the good of the list. The suspension of Utica Rose has been made permanent at her request. List members are reminded that the era of flaming and sustained personal abuse is now over. Those who cannot abide an atmosphere of comradely -- though often sharp -- discussions on the politics of Marxism are again invited to take their subscriptions elsewhere. On a more phlegmatic note, there are discussions afoot to host a series of cyberseminars, the topics of which to be decided by the general membership. We have received quite a few suggestions already, which we will shortly forward to the list. Virtually any topic is welcome and, given sufficient interest, can begin immediately. A personal note: When I signed up with the Spoons lists, I knew about as much about Marxism as medieval barbers knew about angioplasty. I am still largely ignorant, but my long-held skepticism toward easy generalization and facile explanation has been duly sharpened. This, in spite of having learned a good deal from most of you on this list. I am grateful. Louis Godena, co-moderator --- from list marxism-international-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu ---
