Comrades,

Here's my problem.

I've been happily emailing these lists from my work email for at least a
year. Since then my job has been outsourced and I (and others) have been
"taken over" by EDS - a rabid right-wing multinational (ex Ross Perot).

At present they are forcing us to go through their internal corporate
security audit. My brother for instance, who works with me, was forced
to undergo a 5 hour grilling which included all the classic police
tactics in trying to get him to admit to "inappropriate use of workplace
assets".

In other words they are forcing us to give up use of the phone, email
etc. for personal use, under threat of the sack, legal action etc. And
they claim that we have no rights to privacy and that they can and will
monitor our phone calls, emails etc.

OK, I'm in the process of getting the union involved in this.

But I'm also asking the list experts if there is anyway that some sort
of encryption of the lists can be implemented such that the email we
send and receive is encrypted, and the actual email addresses are
psuedonymised.

i.e. can we organise things to protect ourselves from fuckwit employers
who want to monitor our activities.

This is probably a big ask... maybe it is beyond the scope and charter
of Spoons. If so, so be it - it will have to wait for the day when the
issue is more pressing to more people I guess.

In any case, I am going to have to unsubscribe from all lists at least
until this blows over or until I can find some alternative.

So Ciaou for now (as Hugh says). Oh.. I'll still be subscribed until
Monday 24/11

Solidarity,
Tony Hartin
