Since when is Eastern Europe the equivalent of Ruanda? The Visegrad kids aren't dying of starvation or anything. The infant mortality rates of many Eastern European countries are some of the lowest in the world; Slovenia's rate is lower than the American one. Population growth in the region has been steadily falling for fifty years because of improved health care and the emancipation of women, who want careers just like the men. Poland's economy is growing 7% a year; the Czech Republic has the lowest unemployment rate in Europe; Germany has begun to co-finance the environmental clean-up of its Czech and Polish borders. -- Dennis --- from list marxism-international-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu ---
