Since when is Eastern Europe the equivalent of Ruanda? The Visegrad
kids aren't dying of starvation or anything. The infant mortality rates of
many Eastern European countries are some of the lowest in the
world; Slovenia's rate is lower than the American one. Population growth
in the region has been steadily falling for fifty years because of improved 
health care and the emancipation of women, who want careers just like the
men. Poland's economy is growing 7% a year; the Czech Republic has the lowest
unemployment rate in Europe; Germany has begun to co-finance the
environmental clean-up of its Czech and Polish borders.
