Oh, I think *Monthly Review*, *Rethinking Marxism*, *NACLA* et al, epitomize
the "respectable" Left, where one would not be caught dead voicing a
politically "incorrect" sentiment or supporting a "real" Marxist-Leninist
revolution. Where the likes of Henry Louis Gates or Cornell West can bandy
about the type of "emancipatory" "Marxist" horseshit that is *de riguer* in
certain academic quarters and still sit at the head table up at the Big
House. Where bourgeois notions of "democracy" and "human rights" are part
of as much a part of the intellectual fodder as that served over at *George*
or *Atlantic Monthly*. In short, your basic, respectable Big
Government-Welfare Capitalism organs.

That's what I'm talking about.

*Note to Carrol Cox: By evoking the Clinton saga, I was merely illustrating
one facet of bourgeois "morality"; (ie, that you don't go public with your
illicit affairs) that seems to have gone by the boards. There are others,
such as the public acceptance (resignation) of malfeasance among virtually
*all* public officials, the recognition that it doesn't really matter *who*
emerges as the "winner" in the seasonal election charade, and so on.

Shit like that.
