You are not exactly sweetness and light yourself as you have amply demonstrated to a number of list members. But that apart tell us what you think of John Coombs (The leader of the Maritime Union of Australia) offering to the Boss- Chris Corrigan- to betray 60 of the militant workers on Webb dock in Melbourne. And in case you want to do what Coombs did and deny there was any offer tell us what you think of what the union officials did to the militant worker who chucked a brick at the scabs. Do you think he should have been sacked? On second thoughts don't bother - we know where you stand in the struggle. You simply equate the officials with the working class and then you follow them. In so doing you totally neglect the Leninist analysis of the "labor lieutenants of capital" that is the trade union bureaucracy. In truth you are an heir to the right turn that Sharkey, the then leader of the Communist Party of Australia, performed following the big defeats of the late 1940s. After contesting leadership with the Labor Party and failing the CPA settled into a long strategy of tailing the ALP union bureaucracy. The CPA is gone but the strategy lingers on even in the Public Service, in Canberra, it seems. So you are a workerist but with the variation that yours is not a decent rank and file workerism. No you are the mate of the union bosses. Anyone who disagrees with you is a Trot. If things go wrong you do not blame the rotten compromises at the heart of your politics. Oh no it's the movement that are to blame. You know those "lesos" and "poofters". They ruin everything. Gary MacLennan --- from list marxism-international-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu ---
