Jim's remark about people who have never "achieved anything politically" and who will never "win" a revolution is silly and could just as easily apply to himself. One does not suspend one's critical judgement of, say, politicians, merely because one has not himself held public office. Castro and Che belong to a time other than the present, an era, perhaps, when winning basic social amenities like free health care and universal education could only be done by armed confrontation with the state. These are now Second International demands, and have little to do with defeating capitalism or liquidating the exploiting class. Perhaps Jim is right; Castro has been "forced" to accomodate himself to imperialism and outright reaction. Fujimori, at least, does not occupy Guantanamo. Yet, it is disconcerting to remember that, in all probability, if Hitler were alive and ruling Argentina, Castro would be in bed with him, too.
