I would add: ..., because Ireland is still struggling against that 
most repugnant form of imperialism, British Imperialism, while most 
of the "advanced" (in what terms so, anyway?) capitalist countries 
today still -perhaps more than ever in the last half a century-  
enjoy the benefits of imperialism exerted by their own states on 
other peoples.
