O.K.., so someone got this (I'm sort of a learn-as-you-go-along type of
person when it comes to this stuff).

I suppose it wouldn't hurt to introduce myself. I'm going by the
psuedonym R. Mutt, and I've become interested in Marxism, after I described
my ideal vision of a society (that is, what the goal of a society should be
not a complete plan or anything) to a sociology teacher of mine and, she
had told me that, essentially, what I'd described was Marxism (in my own
half-assed sort of way). Anyway, I've been to some local Philadelphia
area DSA meetings, as well as a few local ISO meetings (I haven't heard
>from them lately either they aren't around, or they didn't like me too much).

I read about the first 400 pages of *Das Kapital*, but then classes started
, and I haven't gotten back into it. Is it just me or does Marx repeat
himself a lot? If not, I had more trouble understanding it than I thought.

Also, I was turned onto a book in an anthropology class I'd takenk this
semester (I'm a psych major, but I've decided to take a minor in anthro),
called *Origin of the Family, Private Property and the State*, by
Frederick Engels. Anyone else read it--comments?

R. Mutt
