Thanks for the note oldmole,

As a matter of fact, I am working on Althusser right now, specifically his
essay on Ideolgocial State Apparatuses, which  I find very relevant to my
interests.  It places the educational system squarely within the process
of social prodcution and reproduction.

May be back with more questions in the coming week.
