In regards to the article that Hans sent, the same type of discussion was
discussed in one of my other economic classes. The discussion was about how
America is trying to spread capitalism in the Middle East. This is why Bin
Laden or a group like his, destroyed the World Trade Towers(the center of
the economic power) and the Pentagon. But I would rather focus my comments
on the article Betty sent. This article comforted me. The United States
does not need help from other country's to survive disasters like tornados,
earthquakes, or terrorist attacks. As a country when a disaster strikes we
come together to help. We have a large emergency response system and we
have been able to recover from several horrible disasters. We have many
willing people living in the United States. We have seen these people come
out during this disaster. There are lines to give blood, money has been
donated, and people are eager to help clean up the mess in New York City.
This list could go on an on. But, on the other hand it would be nice to
receive help from other countries similar to the way we help many countries.
I do realize some countries have sent money for the relief effort in this
disaster but it does not compare to the good the United States has done for
other countries. I feel for the families that have been involved in this
horrible tragedy and hope they will be able to recover.
