Subject: Re: M-INTRO: Voting and Education

i would like to make a few remarks wit regards to some points made by ljamj, cleo and slick.
both ljamj and cleo postulates that it is the lack of education which holds the people in lower income percentages:
for instance, ljamj writes:
>To expand on cleos theme I would say that the biggest factor that
> holds down those in lower income brackets is lack of education.
i would have agreed with this statement... however, here it has been put as if this problem were the major ("biggest" in ljamj's words) cause of low wages, exploitation of labour, uneven distribution of GNP, etc... what i argue is that, "lack of education" is not a cause, but rather a consequence... an outcome of the capitalist system that prevails on our earth.
again to quote, from ljamj:
>In my
> opinion the biggest crime of our country is our >failure to provide quality
> education to all of its citizens.
in my opinion, the biggest crime of usa is pouring bombs on top of people, supporting (rather making! just remember a few latin american countries..) coup d'etats here and there just to protect the interests of a number of giant firms (itt, shell, nike... a long list really) and while doing these, using the masks named "eternal justice," "great democracy," etc.
and finally, about cuba... slick wrote:
>For all
>of the health care and educational achievements Cuba >esteems, the families
>that she stayed with asked her to bring such >necessities as toilet paper and
>toothbrushes because Cuba lacks an adequate supply of >simple everyday items
>without a market in place to signal demand.
do you forget about the embargo imposed by the usa and its european allies on cuba? despite this nonsense embargo and the fact tahat cuba is left alone on the world after the collapse of the soviet union, this small and poor country, has achieved the highest number of doctors per person on the world. they provide education for free for everyone. do you think they would not have produced toilet papers and toothbrushes if they had enough funds?
when watching the news of bombing of afghanistan tonight, have a look at the poverty of those people and question your responsibility! every citizen of usa should question his/her responsibility about any event on any part of the world... citizens of all nations should do that, but more the americans...
