This question from KaiserW is something that I have thought of myself. It
seems that a Marxist society does not have any innovation. For example, if
education is free and available to everyone, then why bother putting forth
the effort to get high test scores and grades? I can get into college
regardless of my grades, or would there even be a grading system? Is there
competition in a Marxist society that would force the producers to create
new ideas and commodities that would better the society? If so, then how
does that competition not lead back to capitalism and force companies to
begin taking steps to cut costs and laying people off and destroying the
enviornment? I just view this from the little I know about Marxism. This is
my perspective and could be wrong.
