During my studies of Marxian economics this semester I
have found myself increasingly becoming more critical
of capitalism. This is a new occurrence for me. An
example would be necessary. Today I went to what I
thought was La Salsa, a very good restaurant. Only to
arrive at the location to find a very similar
restaurant. As it turns out it was the same restaurant
but with a different name and the food also had
different names. I was greatly alarmed when I found
out that during the restaurants transition phase, they
eliminated the El Champion. This was an enormous
burrito that was very reasonably priced. I was enraged
because my large body has an equally large hunger. My
mind went wild when I attributed this occurrence to
capitalist greed. The idea that they probably
discontinued this enormous feast due "insufficient"
profit margins was enraging. Instead they decreased
the portions of every thing on the menu and increased
the prices. That made me realize that capitalism has a
tendency to be totally self serving and who cares what
my needs are.
