Why are you proud to be American..as distinct from British, Australian,
Pakistani, French etc?? Does being 'American' make you better than all the
other world citizens??

Why do you think Governments around the world want their citizens to be
patriotic??

Let's keep in mind that the 'nation state' has only existed for a very short
time in human history. And personally I feel that your patriotism is about
the equivalent to 'consumerism'...a wonderful way to prop up the powers that
be whilst you can all feel so 'superior' for being "American".
