From: Belmont-AT-pseud.pseud Subject: M-INTRO: A pair of shoes Date: Sun, 19 Sep 2004 19:34:34 +0000 One of the homework questions is compare a real life situation similar to "a pair of shoes is a pair of shoes." This is based on Marx's 20 yards of linen statement. In real life any commodity is exactly that commodity, unless it can be traded or exchanged for a different commodity. If you have 20 yards of linen it can only be used as 20 yards of linen, but if someone is willing to give you a steak dinner for that 20 yards of linen would it be fair to say "20 yards of linen is a steak dinner." This was probably a much more valid argument in the barter system, but the same principles are still in affect today. --- StripMime Warning -- MIME attachments removed --- This message may have contained attachments which were removed.
