BSW8, you obviously didn't read the actual "Math vs. Tyrrany" article.  If I
have learned something about you, it is that you don't seem to like me very
much.  The other article you are referring to gives an unfavorable yet
insightful critique of it, which I am open to because it really looks at it. 
That is why I forwarded it.  My point was that after exhaustive discussion,
people keep saying the same things that are all only on the surface, ignoring
the finer points and a historical perspective.  If there was more critical
thinking then the arguments against the electoral college wouldn't be so
simplistic.  Also, I'm not calling it "groupthink" just because most others
that have spoken up on this have a view that opposes mine.  I don't mind being
in the minority and I actually could admit that I like to play devil's
advocate.  The arguments in this discussion against the electoral college are
totally ignoring so much of how the electoral college functions and how, as an
integral part of the US Constitution it has stood the test of time.  Direct
democracy has not proven to be as effective as the United States Constitutional
democratic republic.
