I would just like to second jeffkang21's, notion of
McDonald's in foreign counties by expanding his
thoughts with my personal experience. If nothing else
to give some insight to those who have never traveled
extensively. When living in China I experienced the
same thing as jeffkang21, mcdonalds was always packed.
You don't have to look very far to figure out why. The
food is 4 times more expensive than local food, and
yes they do have quite the variety of local foods.
They go there because it is different and it is a
treat for some people to spend so much money at a
restaurant. Just as some of you might go to Benihana's
to eat sushi. The food is different, more expensive,
and yet you still go. This in no way means that this
Japanese retaurant is ruining your local culture now
does it? People need to quit picking on places like
mcdonalds and starbucks! (for the record I don't
even like mcdonalds)
