That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. If someone is smoking on
the same park bench that I am sitting on - polluting MY air, I would
absolutely ask him or her to move. Especially when I was pregnant and now
that I am nursing my baby, I am particularly sensitive to smoke. Obviously,
I don't go to bars or other places that will have smokers but I do expect
the air I breathe (especially outside on a park bench) to be breathable. If
I read it right - because of my preference for clean air I am not taking on
any responsibility? I'm not the one polluting the air within twenty feet in
all directions creating a biohazard for myself and anyone I come in contact
with. Exactly what responsibility should a non-smoker take? I'm not asking
anyone to change - go ahead and smoke. But the fact that smoking is
dangerous to others (such as nursing mothers and children) is precisely the
reason it should not be done in public.
