I believe its a choice for the consumer to decide if he would like to kill himself faster. That what's great about capitilism. People need to be informed of the pros and cons and they can make their own decision. How people find certain things pleasurable is up to them. I personally don't understand why certain people do some of the things they do, but I'm not going to take that choice away from them. Just inform them and they decide. Regarding smokers, I know many people that smoke. They all have different reasons why they smoke. But there are a few people out there that smoke and are very inconsiderate of others. I don't understand why people would have to smoke in front of others. Yet it seems like I run into these type of people all the time. I don't have to tolerate this!! If they want to smoke because they find it pleasurable, that's fine. But don't take the liberty away from someone else who doesn't like smoke and would like to breath clean air and live a little longer. It's
your choice, until it involves choices and liberty's of others.

attackpeel-AT-pseud.pseud wrote:I agree with ndnman1 is saying because it is the choice of the consumer to
decided weither they want to eat unhealthy food. The responsibility of the
producer is to inform the consumer of the risks, everybody knows that a
double cheeseburger can't be good for you but you get it anyways because it
sounds good. The thing that McDonald's does really well is that they down
play to bad effects that their food has on people and also by adding a salad
to the menu it makes it that much safer to consume a burger. I believe it is
important for the producer to inform the consumer on what harmful effects
their product can have on someones body but ultimately it comes down to the
consumer because they should care about their bodies and that means knowing
what they are putting in it.
You can't tell me that a smoker doesn't understand what the ill effects are
from lighting up but they would rather satisify their craving then think of
the harm it will do. We live in a capitalist society and everyone is trying
to make money on everything out their so it comes down to the consumer
knowing what harmful effects can come from the things they are putting in
their bodies.
