I just wanted to see what other people felt about the disgusting display of
our professional athletes this past week. Ron Artest beating the crap out
of a fan was what I think the worst outburst of a professional athlete I
have ever seen. Do you think that this outburst and other factors will lead
to less or more people watching the NBA? Do you think that their
punishments were fair?

I think that the security was a big part of this. Tell me who has the right to
throw something at a player from the stands. The thing between Ben Wallace and
Ron Artest was on the court and stays on the court. The referees called it and
it was fine until the bottle came down and hit Ron Artest when he was laying
down on the score table. I agree that a player should never go up in the
stands and Ron is accountable. But where is the line, because the person that
threw the bottle should be taken out and have charges against him, if the
player doesn't go up in the stands. There has to be something that protects
the players so they don't feel like they have to be the punisher because you
know nothing will happen to the one that throws something from the stands.
JeffKang21 said that he works at a bank and he has had people swearing at him.
Well Jeff i don't think that you can compare because the pro players get that
all the time and they don't go him them. The time is when a fan gets involved
physically, that a player might go after him. But if you go to a play and see
some actors and people start throwing things at them is that right of even
rushing the stage. Because a couple of the Detroit fans where on the court.
That isn't right. But the penalties i think are good because there needs to be
something that protects the fans. I think that fans should be fans and enjoy
the game say all they want but keep your sodas for yourself. What happens on
the court is between the players and the refs.
