CONFRONTATION FEARS OVER WRIGHT MOVE. Statement from IRSP prisons spokesperson Willie Gallagher; "A delegation from the Irish Republican Socialist Party travelled to Long Kesh prison today to meet with representatives of Republican Socialist POW's. "The meeting discussed a number of issues, including the POW's analysis of the current political climate. The Republican Socialist POW representatives were vocal on proposals by the prison authorities to move Billy Wright and his LVF faction to the Republican Socialist H-block 6. "They say this transfer to H-block 6 is because of strong opposition to Wrights move onto Loyalist blocks from the UVF & UDA prisoners. The Republican Socialist prisoners feel that this is an issue that must be resolved between Loyalists and the prison authority alone. "To attempt to force extreme Loyalists onto a Republican Socialist block at any stage would be a recipe for confrontation. To do so on the run up to the marching season is an act of sheer madness. "The INLA prisoners made it clear to us that they will resist any attempt to force LVF prisoners onto a republican block. "The IRSP would urge the prison authorities to pull back from this proposed move. Feelings within the prison are running high. Should this issue be forced any resulting confrontation has every possibility of spreading beyond the prison gates." ENDS.
