People have been asking about Prop. 226 in California. Here is some info

Prop. 226 is an effort to silence working people even further by reducing 
our ability to participate in the political process. The effort in 
California began as an effort by voucher proponents who figured that the 
only way they could pass vouchers was to eliminate the ability of teacher 
unions to raise money to fight such a proposition. It has been joined by 
Newt Gingrich and hard core anti-union forces who want to remove us from 
the legislative and political process and by Gov. Wilson who is looking 
for an issue to ride into the national news.
