Subject: M-NEWS: "International Day of Revolutionary Prisoners"

Dear friends and comrades,

Since the massacre of more than 300 Peruvian revolutionaries in the prisons
of El Fronton, Luriganchon and El Callao on June,19 1986, the date, June 19,
has become the "Day of Revolutionary Prisoners" and has been the occasion of
numerous manifestations in many countries.

Just as the "International Day of Revolutionary Prisoners" organised every
year in Milan, and uniting various supportgroups of communist, anarchist,
anti-fascist and anti-imperialist prisoners, a first "International Day" was
organized last year in Belgium, with the participation of delegations of
France, Switserland, Germany, Italy and The Netherlands.

This year, a second edition of the "International Day of Revolutionary
Prisoners" will be co-organized by the Anarchist Black Cross of Ghent and
the Association of Parents and Friends of Communist Prisoners of Brussels.
This co-organization and the experience of the first "Day" will permit us,
so we hope, to obtain the objectives of this initiative which are the
following:

1.Give as much as possible militant information about the prisoners. The
"Day" will be announced via the press, posters, leaflets. Representatives of
the different groupes present will speak before the audience one after the
other to expose the situation of the different revolutionary prisoners, to
answer questions on that matter, and to propose solidarity
     activities.
2.Ameliorate the exchanges and strenghten the links between the different
forces who support the prisoners. Round tables should be organized to permit
the delegations and persons to meet each other, to plan eventually
cooperation and mutual aid, and to pose together the questions relating to a
possible third "Day" in 1999.
3.Permit the distribution of publications about the prisoners and their
struggles. The groups present will have a stand and those not able to send a
delegation can send to the organizers their publications which will be
proposed to the audience, and/or a message, appeal or communique which will
be read during the meeting and edited in the brochure of the "Day".
4.During the day an exposition of works made by revolutionary prisoners
of different countries will be shown.
5.The "Day" can be the occasion for other activities - and we invite all
persons and groups who are interested in participating to manifest
themselves early with their propositions and wishes.
The "Day" can also be the occasion to organize a press conference.

The "International Day of Revolutionary Prisoners 1998" will be organized on
saturday the 20th of June from 12h - 21h, in 'Democrazy', Reynaertstraat ,
9000 Ghent. Delegations from abroad who wish so can be picked up on their
arrival in Brussels by the organizers.

We hope, dear friends and comrades, that you will contribute to the success
of this initiative, ideally with your presence, secondly by sending material
and by promoting this initiative.

Bruxelles, 04/04/98

Ch=E8r(e)s ami(e)s, ch=E8r(e)s camarades,

relatives =E0 la conception d'une troisi=E8me "Journée" pour 1999.
