----------------------------------------------

Another outrageous turn of events.

Now that the MUA wharfies have been sacked, you'd think
they'd qualify for the dole, wouldn't you?

Wrong.

The MUA, you'll remember, sought and got an injunction
against the sackings. Patrick had avoided getting into
trouble vis the Unfair Dismissals Act by employing the
wharfies through insolvent subsidiaries, and officially
'laying them off' as a consequence of that apparent
insolvency. Well, this is gonna take the courts a while
to sort through, isn't it?

But PM Howard says that this injunction means that MUA members
are still officially not unemployed. So no dole. Of course,
these MUA members may, if they wish, apply to Patrick for a
contract if they're getting short of money ...

Disbloodygusting!

Rob.
