FOOTBALL PASSIONS
A day of discussion, debate, video and celebration
On the eve of the 1998 World Cup in France the level of involvement of
millions of people in the drama of football will never have been
higher. As we enter the new millennium the 'people's game' provides
the most global opportunity for shared cultural experience.
The aim of this event is to explore the love of football, its pleasures
and frustrations, and the reasons for the game's rise to such
prominence. Can the love of football contribute to a good society,
and to good relations between nations and cultures?
Participants will include academics, players, psychologists,
journalists and fans.
