Subject: M-PSY: Home for marxism-psych

Spoons collective, IMO, are being generous and helpful to people looking
for alternative ways of keeping the lists running. The absolute deadline
for marxism-psych is May 23rd and if there is a bit of a further delay it
is not as if the subscription lists will be lost.

I have had one helpful suggestion of a discussion about a wider (not
specifically marxist by way of title) progressive list on mental health,
which I think could be part of the answer. Can I appeal again for anyone to
start collating a list of what exists at the moment on this?

However my preference personally remains that marxism-psych has a niche in
a wider psycho-ecology of a marxism-space. I am therefore hoping that as
the other lists busy themselves in sorting out their own future this will
not be forgotten.

Even if lists go to different sites there are some interesting ideas about
mirror site techniques.

At the moment marxism-international and marxism-and-sciences have moved
with some speed to a home at Emory.

Marxism-thaxis has apparently unanimously (at least nem. con.) decided to
accept the offer of Hans Ehrbar to attempt to reproduce marxism-space as
much as people want, on a secure dedicated computer out of Utah. Hans who
was moderator for marxism-space within Spoons, is also technical moderator
of marxism-general. This is unmoderated for content but recently has had a
tight restriction on the number of posts per day.

On marxism-general there is a debate about whether to accept that offer or
to go to a progressive not-for-profit commercial cooperative, New York
Transfer.

These decisions are psychological decisions even more than they are
technical ones. If any members of marxism-psych are not subscribed to
marxism-general or marxism-transition (set up for these issues of transfer,
but rather low volume) then I would urge them to consider participating.
This may be more valuable at the moment than a debate on marxism-psych.

BTW the who command was disabled on all lists some months ago because
Spoons was finding us swamped by hackers who used automatic devices to
collect lists of subscribers and then subscribe them to 1001 other lists in
a way very difficult to track down apparently.

I do not think any of us is rushing on marxism-psych but I would be willing
to publish here the membership list if enough people want it and not many
people object. Its about 80 to 90 and fairly international.
