Subject: M-TH: MARXISM VS DILTHEY?


>From my cursory investigation of the subject, it appears that the great
granddaddy of both modern hermeneutics and lebensphilosophie is Dilthey. 
Does anyone know of the ideological circumstances in which Dilthey
produced his thought?  Was he reacting against any other philosophical
current?  Was there any interaction or antagonism between this body of
thought and historical materialism before Lukacs came along?  Are there
any good Marxist critiques of Dilthey?
