Internet Chat: Sex, Laws, And Cyberspace

The Campaign for Internet Freedom has asked us to pass on the following
announcement:

CIF has organised a discussion on:

SEX, LAWS, AND CYBERSPACE
by Jonathan Wallace and Mark Mangan.

on Thursday 12 June at 20:00hrs BST (19:00hrs GMT)
at server: US.Undernet.org
on channel: #netfreedom

Co-author of SEX, LAWS, AND CYBERSPACE Mark Mangan, an Internet specialist
and writer who has written numerous articles on technology will join us to
discuss the issues raised in the book. The book addresses the legal and
ethical debates surrounding the growth of the Internet. Should the law and
society treat the Net as a broadcast medium (like TV), a communications
common carrier (like the telephone), or a print medium (like a newspaper or
magazine)?

In the book, Mark offers a spirited defence of freedoms now under fire.

To find out more about Mark's book and his views on Net freedom, join in on
Thursday.

To participate you will need some special Internet Relay Chat (IRC)
software. Details of how to use it and where you can download it are
available via the IRC link on the CIF website at
http://www.easynet.co.uk/cam/censorship/irc.html
