From: "jurriaan bendien" <Jbendien-AT-globalxs.nl> Subject: Re: M-TH: Re: Men and Feminism Date: Thu, 11 Dec 1997 01:38:46 +0100 Dennis Redmond vituperates about "Neanderthal thinking in all its glory" Imagine the gall and temerity of asking the men to get off their ass and help out with raising the kids and doing the dishes! Well that wasn't the issue. A number of the men there were involved in relationships with kids. And they also had fulltime jobs. And they were washing dishes, cleaning nappies and so forth. They were on the whole a lot brighter than Dennis Redmond with his radical chic and moral effluvium. They came to a meeting to discuss their political work, not to be subjected to moral lectures about politically correct behaviour by feminists. Dennis says: It all leads quite naturally to the logical conclusion: these rentier radicals then hire an au pair sub-prole, instead of changing the diapers themselves. It was a very practical solution actually, it solved the arguments, and it worked well. Actually, none of us were "rentiers" and many of us were poor. > > Jurriaan, if you're gonna indulge in MarxPorn, at least be creative > about it. Why not tell us some exciting tales about the leather scene in > Amsterdam? Or hashish runs at the local bakeshop? There is to my knowledge no specifically Marxist pornography, and pornography is on the whole rather boring, I find. The leather scene in Amsterdam ? I don't know much about it apart from visiting the SM shop once around the corner from where I live and owning a leather jacket. Hashish ? I don't take it hardly at all. I don't get stoned very much at all really. I have some weed in the house but I haven't touched it for yonks. Cheers Jurriaan --- from list marxism-thaxis-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu ---
