Indeed while I am not saying that I have been perfectly faithful for almost seven years out of a paranoia over AIDS, I am also not saying that it hasn't mattered at some level. So this is surely not a case of practicing what I am preaching. But I am still quite interested in the discourse over the risks of HIV. However, I cannot imagine not recommending to my children in the strongest language possible the use of condoms and the greatest care in choosing sexual partners. Now I imagine that we may get an argument from LM over this. I am expecting that their risk-taking ethos will reflect a real gender bias given how much easier it is for women to contract the virus than men through casual vaginal sex.
