Tried to send this to you privately, but it bounced back. 
I don't know why it is so important for you to imagine yourself as
someone who can show up the error of my ways with a single statement or 
a quote from Mao.  I suppose you are the wise one. At any rate, the
thread will not change unless those who know more or who can point
us in the correct direction contribute. You seem to have figured it all 
out. Who would you recommend?  Amartya Sen, Partha Dasgupta (quite
difficult), Harriet Friedman, Harry Bernstein, Thandika Mkwandire, David
Goodman, Susan George? I hope that you will take this discussion to a
higher level. I know a very good summary of Sen's work by Meghnad Desai,
though I don't have the citation with me.
