I have sympathy with Leo Casey's plight, having sat through quite a few loony meetings in the past as a young activist seeking to learn more about left-wing groups. Unfortunately my experience was that when we did get stoned, things were even worse. However the interesting question remains, what motivates these "surreal Trot and Stalinist organisations" to keep up their shadowboxing these days ? I am kind of fascinated by the psychological aspects of sectology. How can anybody of sane mind be halfway attracted by these long abstract moralising rants about "The United Front", "The Woman Question", "Correct Positions on Afghanistan", "Stalinist Traitors" and the like ? Is this symptomatic of a sublimated or perverted libido, or a frustrated religiosity, or simply a character weakness ? Or all of these ? When I see this stuff coming across my screen, I blip it immediately. Cheers Jurriaan. --- from list marxism-thaxis-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu ---
