Heavy Rains in New Mexico caused an extended blooming seasons and the deermouse population exploded. As happens with exploding populations, an epidemic ensued and many deermice became infected with a species of hantavirus. These mice left infected waste in human habitations and when people inhaled them (doing spring cleaning in attics, garages, sheds, etc.) they became ill and some died. Obviously this kind of thing happens quite often in natural systems and ancient Native Americans would have been subject to the same phenomena - except it would have been worse. peace --- from list marxism-thaxis-AT-lists.village.virginia.edu ---
