Subject: Korea: general strike on Wednesday?
To: LABOR-L-AT-YORKU.CA

Both South Korean trade union federations have walked out of the tripartite
commission following government threats to ram new labour laws through the
National Assembly. The proposed legislation would allow mass layoffs as
part of "reform" of the Korean economy in line with conditions laid down by
the IMF.

Strikes could begin as early as tomorrow (Wednesday). For details, and for
daily updates, check out the "Solidarity with Korea's Labour Movement"

No upsurge in workers' struggles?

No real crisis?
