Bob described the situation in Latvia, the former Soviet republic where in
WW2 the SS recruited sonderkommandos from the local Latvians. They were
responsible for some of the worst Jewish atrocities and massacres and were
worse even than the Nazis themselves.

How does modern Latvia celebrate its 'freedom' from socialism?
By publishing schoolbooks in which their former SS men are described as
national heroes; and by giving the new Latvian army SS-style uniforms and
helmets to wear (so embarrassing that when Clinton visited last year, they
briefly had to put back on their old Soviet-style garb).
