addendum to my previous message (apologies for replying to self)...I
had meant to include below snippet from TSV:

On pp. 410-411 of Vol I (Foreign Languages Pub. House ed), M mentions
instances where:

" ...production cannot be separated from the act of producing ...all
performing artists, orators, actors teachers, physicians, priests, etc."

he maintains that:

" ...the capitalist mode of production is met with only to a small
extent, and from the nature of the case can only be applied in a few
spheres."

M then proceeds to show that where the capitalist mode is applicable -
he cites actors & teachers - there exists 'productive labourers,' 
'wage-labourers' in relation to their employers...

what about Erik Olin Wright's (among others) view that teachers have
a contradictory class location?...not that they are 'middle class' or
that they are somehow 'between' classes, but that they are located
simultaneously in two classes...so they share characteristics and
interests of both the petit bourgeois and the working class...Michael
