Subject: M-TH: OK, a kind of apology


All right, I guess I should apologize to you-all for picking a fight 
with Justin on the list.  I got really pissed and wanted to have it out 
in public -- nothing less grand would do.  It was inconceivable to me
that the legal threat we received was not by agreement with Justin, and I am
utterly sick of receiving legal threats.  Spoon now receives legal threats
every 3 days; people don't say "please unsub me from this list"; they say:
"I trust you will do what is right and not force me to take legal action."
Also, our lists are run on free labor and on public-domain software;
it seems sort of inharmonious to me that an old-time beneficiary of all this
free stuff would sanction legal threats against us because of copyright.
So in short, I got very mad.  And then Hugh made me even more mad, but
what else is new?  We go a long way.   One of these days we will say
something new to each other, and the world, in shock, will leap off of
its axis.
